Definition: word, pada; lit. member of a sentence; the word is found used in the sense of पद in the old Pratisaakhya Literature: cf. अन्तरेण पर्वणी । पर्वशबेदन पदमुच्यते । पदयोर्मध्ये पद अागमो भवति । यथा प्राङ्कसोमः, प्राङ्क्सोम: । Uvvata on V. Pr. I. 138.
