"karmasādhanaḥ" iti. supo vidhīyamānena kāryeṇa sambandhamātram(). sambandhasāmānye ṣaṣṭhī tu yatra "śeṣe" 2.3.50 iti ṣaṣṭhī vidhīyate tatra veditavyam(). sambandhasāmānyasya vacanīti ṣaṣṭhīsamāsaḥ, sā cāsau ṣaṣṭhī ceti viśeṣaṇasamāsaḥ sambandhasāmānyavacanaṣaṣṭhī ante yasya supaḥ sa tathoktaḥ. karmaṣaṣṭhīyuktena supā karmasādhanasya vidhiśabdasya sambandho nopapadyate; karmaṣaṣṭha()nupapatteḥ. yadi hi sup? karma syāt? tatra karmaṇi ṣaṣṭhī syāt(), na cāsau sup? karma; supo vidhīyamānatvāt(). tattu tatsambandhikāryam(). vidhīyamānatvāt? karma tadvidhiśabdenoktam(). atastatrāpi tāvat? karmaṣaṣṭo na sambhavati, kiṃ punarakarmaṇi supi! "pañcārbham(), daśārmam()" iti. "diksaṃkhye saṃjñāyām()" 2.1.49 iti māsaḥ. atra nalope kṛte'varṇāntaṃ pūrvapada jātamiti "arbhe cāvarṇam()" 6.2.90 ityādinā sūtreṇa tasyādyudāttatvaṃ prāpnoti, asiddhatvānna bhavati, samāsāntodāttatvameva 6.1.217 bhavati. pañcanakhānāṃ bhakṣaṇapratiṣedho gamyate iti paspaśāhnikabhāṣye prapañcitam. tadāha-
ityasiddhatvāditi. nanu daṇḍiṣvityatra nalope kṛta iṇaḥ paratvātsasya ṣatvamiti
sthitiḥ. tatra ṣatvavidheḥ subāśrayavidhitvāttatra kartavye nalopasyā'siddhatvātkathaṃ
ṣatvamiti cet, maivaṃ–na hi ṣatvavidhi subvidhiḥ. suptvaṃ tadvyāpyadharmaṃ vā
puraskṛtya pravartamāno vidhirhi subvidhiriha vivakṣitaḥ. naca ṣatvavidhistathā.
atastatra nalopasya siddhatvamastyeveti ṣatvaṃ nirbādham. astu vā ṣatvavidhirapi
subbidhistathāpi tasmin kartavye nalopasyā'siddhatvaṃ na bhavatyeva. tadasiddhatvaṃhi
kiṃ `pūrvatrāsiddha'mityanenāpādyate, uta `nalopaḥ supsvare'tyanenaiva ?. na
tāvadādyaḥ, nalopavidheḥ ṣatvavidhyapekṣayā pūrvatvena tasya ṣatve
kartavye'siddhatvā'saṃbhavāt. na dvitīyaḥ, `nalopaḥ supsvare'tyanena hi
`rājabhyā'mityādau nalopasyā'siddhatvamapūrvaṃ na vidhīyate, kiṃtu
`pūrvatrāsiddha'mityanena prāptameva niyamārthaṃ punarvidhīyate `rājā\ufffdā'
ityādau supsvarasaṃjñātugbidhibhinnasavarṇadīrghādividhisiddhaye. daṇḍiṣvityatra tu
nalopasyā'siddhatvaṃ `pūrvatrāsiddha'mityanena prāptaṃ na bhavatīti tasya `nalopaḥ
supsvare'ti sūtraviṣayatvaṃ na sambhavati. anyathā subvidhāvityanena daṇḍiṣvityādau
ṣatve kartavye nalopā'siddhatvamapūrvaṃ vidhīyeta. rājabhyā'mityādau tu dīrghādau
kartavye siddhameva niyamārthaṃ vidhīyata iti vidhivairūpyamāpadyeta,
tasmāddaṇḍiṣvityādau ṣatve kartavye nalopasyā'siddhatvā'bhāvānnalopasya
sattvādiṇaḥ paratvā'napāyātṣatvaṃ nirbādhamiti śabdenduśekhare prapañcitam.

`dvandve dhī'ti pūrvanipātaniyamo na bhavati, ghisaṃjñāvidhau nalopasyā'siddhatvena
idantatvavirahāt. kṛtitugvidhau yathā-vṛtrahabhyām vṛtrahabhiḥ. atra
`brāhṛbhrūṇavṛtreṣu kvi'biti vihitaṃ kvipamāśritya `hyasvasya piti kṛti
tugi'ti na tuk, nalopasyā'siddhatvena hyasvasya nakāravyavahitatvāt. kṛtīti
viśeṣaṇācche ce'ti tugvidhau nalopasya nā'siddhatvam. tataśca vṛtrahacchatram. iha

tugvidhigrahaṇapratyākhyānaparabhāṣyaprāmāṇyenatādṛśasaṃnipātā'nimittakanalopaviṣayāṇāṃ
`vṛtrahajhana'mityādīnāmanidhānakalpanādityāstāṃ tāvat. rājñi-rājanīti. `vibhāṣā
ṅiśyoḥ' ityallopavikalpa iti bhāvaḥ. pratidiveti. `divu krīḍādau'. tasmāt
