āmantritāntaṃ sāmānyavacanam na avidyamānavad bhavati. kiṃ tarhi? vidyamānavadeva. agne
gṛhapate. māṇavaka jaṭilakādhyāpaka. pūrvasya vidyamānavattvāt paramanudāttam eva bhavati.
āmantrite iti kim? devadatta pacasi. samānādhikarane iti kim? devadatta paṇḍita
yajñadatta. atra yajñadattaviśeṣanam paṇḍitaśabdaḥ, na pūrveṇa samānādhikaranaḥ.
sāmānyavacanam iti kim? paryāyeṣu mā bhūt, adhnye, devi, sarasvati, īḍe, kāvye,
vihavye. paryāyaśabdā ete. evaṃ hi uktam, etā te aghnye nāmāni iti.

"agne gṛhapate" iti. agniśabdo'trāgnimātrābhidhāyitvāt? sāmānyavacano'pi gṛhapatiśabdena viśeṣābhidhāyinā vyavacchidyamānastadvācye gārhapatyākhye'gniviśeṣe evāvatiṣṭhata iti gṛhapatiśabdastena samānādhikaraṇaḥ. evaṃ "māṇavaka jaṭilādhyāpaka" ityatrāpi samānādhikaraṇātā vijñeyā. atra jaṭilakaśabdasyāpekṣābhedāt? sāmānye viśeṣatvaṃ na; kiṃ tarhi? māṇavakāpekṣayā viśeṣatvam(), adhyāpakāpekṣayā sāmānyabhāvaḥ. atra jaṭilake samānādhikaraṇe parato māṇavakasyāvidyamānavattvaṃ na bhavati, adhyāpake tu jaṭilakaśabdasya. pūrvasya" ityādinā pratiṣedhasya phalaṃ darśayati.
"devadatta pacasi" iti. tatra devadattasya yo'bhidheyo'rthastatraiva katrtari lakāro vihita iti bhavati pacasītyetaddevadattaśabdena samānādhikaraṇam(). āmantritaṃ tu na bhavati--devadatta yajñadatteti. devadattaśabdo'tra na saṃjñāśabdo gṛhrate, kiṃ tarhi? kriyānimittakaḥ; anyathā saṃjñaśabdasyaikavastuniṣṭhatvāt? sāmānyavacanaḥ, sa na syāt(). "ete paryāyāḥ" iti. etena sāmānyavacanatvābhāvaṃ darśayati. viśeṣāpekṣaṃ sāmānyam(). na cātra kasyacidviśeṣo vācyo yadapekṣayā sāmānyaṃ syāt(), sarveṣāmatyantābhinnārthatvāt(), anyathā paryāyā evaṃ na syuḥ. kathaṃ punajrñāyante paryāyā ete? ityāha--"evaṃ hruktam()" ityādi॥
