Before a Taddhita affix having an indicatory ((ñ)), ((ṇ)) or ((k)), the Vṛiddhi is always substituted for the first vowel of ((śuci)), ((īśvara)), ((kṅetrajña)), ((kuśala)) and ((nipuṇa)) when preceded by the Negative particle, but this substitution is optional for the vowel of the Negative particle. "atra kecadahuḥ" ityādi. grahaṇakavākyam(). asya "na nañpūrvāt? tatpuruṣāt()" iti vivaraṇam(). "na nañpūrvāt? tatpuruṣāt()" 5.1.120 iti tvatalbhyāmanyo bhāvapratyayaḥ pratiṣedhyate, tatrottaraṃ bhāvapratyayamicchatā śūcyādibhya eva, na tu nañsamāsebhya uttaro bhāvapratyayaḥ katrtavyaḥ. tasmin? kṛte paścānnañsamāsaḥ, tataścāṅgasyāmāderaco vidhīyamānā vṛddhirna prāpnoti. na hi pūrvaṃ bhāvapratyaye kṛte paścānnañsamāse nañ? aṅgasayācāmādirbhavati, uttarapadasyaivāṅgatvāt(); ucyate cedaṃ vacanam(), tatra vacanasāmathryādaṅgasyāpi vṛddhirbhavati.
"tadapare" ityādi. yaduktamiyaṃ pūrvapadasya vṛddhiraprāptaiva vibhāṣa vidhīyata iti, tadapara ācāryā na kṣamante. kiṃ kāraṇam()? ityāha--"bhāvavacanādanyo'pi hi" ityādi. evakāro bhinnakramo vidyata ityasyānantaraṃ draṣṭavyaḥ. yadi nañsamāsādapatyādiṣvartheṣu vṛddhinimittaṃ bhāvavacanādaparastaddhito na vidyeta, evaṃ bahuvrīheśca nañsamāsādbhāvavacanādanyo'pi na vidyeta; tato yujyate'śuccādiśabdānāmanaṅgatvādaṅgādhikāropamardanena vṛddhivacanasyākṛtārthatvāt(). na tvetadevam; vidyata eva hranyo'patyādivvartheṣu nañsamāsād()vṛddhinimittasyaddhitaḥ--akuśalasyāpatyamākauśaliḥ, akuśalasyedamākauśalamiti. bahuvrīheśca nañsamāsādbhāvavacano'pi vidyata eva--nāsya śucayo vidayanta ityaśuciḥ, tasya bhāvaḥ, "igantācca laghupūrvāt()" 5.1.130 ityaṇ()--āśaucam(). yata evamanyo'pi bhāvavacanāt? taddhito nañsamāsāddhidyate, vṛddhinimittako bahuvrīheśca nañsamāsādbhāvavacano'pi vidyate; tasmāt? tatra kṛtārthatvādvacanasyāṅgādhikārabādhanaṃ ca yucyate.
yadapyuktam()--"na nañpūrvāt? tatpuruṣādityṛttaro bhāvapratyayaḥ eva"(iti), tadapyayuktamiti darśayannāha--"akṣetrajño'nī()āraḥ"["akṣetrajñānī()ārau"--kāśikā] ityādi. etau hi dvau śabdau bāhṛṇādiṣu tatpuruṣāveva paṭha()ete, tenābhyāṃ tatpuruṣābhyāmeva ṣyañ? bhavati, anyathā hi brāāhṛṇādiṣvanayoḥ pāṭhasya vaiyathryaṃ syāt(). tasmādaṅgasyaiveyaṃ vṛddhirnityaṃ prāptā satī bhāvapratyaye, anyatra ca taddhite vikalpena vidhīyate yathāyogam(). tatarāśaucamiti yadi tatpuruṣaḥ kriyate--na śuciraśutaciḥ, tadā "tasyedam()" 4.3.120 ityaṇi kṛte vṛddhiḥ; atha bahuvrīhiḥ--nāsti śucirasyenyaśuciḥ, tato yadi bhāvārtho vivakṣyate tadā "igantācaca laghupūrvāt()" 5.1.130 ityaṇ(); atha "tasyedam()" 4.3.120 ityartho vivakṣyate, tadā "prāgdīvayato'ṇ()" 4.1.83 ityaṇ()--ānai()āyryam(), ākṣaitrajñyamiti. tatpuruṣābhyāṃ brāāhṛṇāditvāt? vyañi kṛte vṛddhiḥ. ākīśalamānaipuṇamiti yadi bahuvrīhirayāpi tatpuruṣaḥ, ubhayathāpi "tasyedam()" 4.3.120 ityaṇeva. yadyapi kuśalanipuṇaśabdau brāāhṛṇādiṣu yudhādiṣu ca paṭha()ete tathāpi tadantāt? tatpuruṣādvahuvrīherapi bhāvapratyayo nopapadyate; tadantavidherabhāvāt().
