"tat()" ityādi. yata eva teṣāṃ yathāyogaṃ prakṛtyāśrayaḥ pratyayāśrayaśca pratiṣedhaḥ siddhaḥ, tasmādubhayasyāpi pratiṣedhasya prayuktasyāyaṃ niyama ityarthaḥ. dhātvantarebhyo vyavacchidya karotyādīnāṃ pratiṣedhastheha niyamo veditavyaḥ.
"kathaṃ punaretadvṛñaṃ prati thali niyamārthamupapadyate? sati hi pratiṣedhe niyamo bhavati. vṛñasthalīṭ()pratiṣadhaḥ. tasya hi nātra prakṛtyāśrayaḥ pratiṣedhaḥ siddhaḥ; udāttatvāt(). nāpi pratyayāśrayaḥ; thalaḥ kittvābhāvāt(). tasmāt? vṛñaṃ prati thalīṭpratiṣedhārthataiva yuktā, na niyamārthatā? ityata āha--"vṛño hi" ityādi. vyavasthā=niyamaḥ. "babhūthātatanthajagṛmbhavavartheti nigame" 7.2.64 iti nipātanāṭvṛño nigama eva thalīṭpratiṣedhena bhavitavyam(), na bhāṣāyām(). yata evaṃ vyavasthā tasmānnāyaṃ vṛñasthalīṭpratiṣedhaḥ; anyathā vavartheti nipātanasya vaiyathryaṃ syāt(). tasmāt? pratiṣedhābhāvāt? vṛño'pyetat? sūtraṃ niyamārthameva vijñāyata ityekānta eṣaḥ.
"studruruāuśruvāṃ tu" ityādi. apiśabdaḥ ārdhadhātukalakṣaṇo'pi ya iṭ? prāpnoti so'pi neṣyata iti darśanārthaḥ. kathaṃ punariṣyamāṇo'pi labhyate, purastāt(), pratiṣedhakāṇḍasya balīyastvāt(). iha ca "na vṛdbhyāścatubhryaḥ" 7.2.59 ityasyānantaramidaṃ pratiṣedhakāṇḍaṃ karttuṃ yuktam(). evaṃ dviṣpratiṣedhāśrayaṇaṃ na katrtavyaṃ syāt(). yadayaṃ purastāt? pratiṣedhaṃ karoti, tasyaitat? prayojanam()--iṣmātrasyānāśritaviśeṣavidhānasya pratiṣedho vijñāyate, purastāt? pratiṣedhe kriyamāṇe sati viśeṣamanāśrityeṇmātrasyāyamapavādo bhavati. tena yāvāniṭ? prāptastasya sarvasya pratiṣedho bhavati siddhaḥ. anyastvāha--"neṭi" 7.2.4 ityanuvatrtamāne punariṅgrahaṇasāmathryāt(), punaḥ pratiṣedhasāmathryācca iṇmānnasya pratiṣedho vijñāyate.
"kuño'suṭkasyeti vaktavyam()" iti. karoteravidyamānasuṭaḥ ṣatiṣedho bhavatītyetadartharūpaṃ vyākhyeyamityarthaḥ. kimartham()? sasuṭkasyeḍāgamo yathā syāt(). tatredaṃ vyākhyānam()--"dvandve ghi" (2.2.32) ityanena stuprabhṛtīnāmanyatamasya ghisaṃjñakasya pūrvanipātamakṛtvaitat? sūcitam()--yateha pūrvanipātalakṣaṇaṃ vyabhicarati svaviṣaye na pravatrtate, tathedamapīti. tena yadā karotiḥ sasuṭkaḥ, tatra na pravatrtata iti. "sañcaskariva, sañcaskarima" iti. "samparyupebhyaḥ karotau bhūṣaṇe" 6.1.132 iti suḍityanuvatrtamāne "aḍabyāsavyavāye'pi" 6.1.131 iti suṭ kriyate.

"kṛte granthe", "tamadhīṣṭo bhṛtaḥ", parivṛto rathaḥ" ityādinirdeśavirodhāpatteḥ. vamādiṣviti. ādiśabedana sedhvevahimahīnāṃ grahaṇam. tuṣṭudhve. tuṣṭuvahe. tuṣṭumahe ityādi. syādetat-- astu prakṛtyāśrayaniṣedhasya niyamaḥ, pratyayāśrayasya tu na saṃbhavati, vṛgrahamasya vavarthetyatrā'prāptaniṣedhaprāpakatvāt. na hratra pratyayāśrayo niṣedhaḥ prāpnoti, thalo'kittvāt. nāpi prakṛtyāśrayaḥ , vṛña udāttatvāt. na caivampi vṛṅo niyamārthatvamastviti vācyaṃ, tasya viśiṣyā'grahaṇāt. yadyapi viśiṣya grahaṇe vṛño'pi nāsti, tathāpyaprāptaniṣedhaprāptiphalakatvādvṛ iti vṛña eva grahaṇaṃ bhavet. vidiniyamayorvidhireva jyāyāniti nyāyāt. evaṃ ca babhūvivetyādau "śryukaḥ kitī"ṇniṣedho durvāra iti cet. atrāhuḥ-- "babhūthātatanthajagṛjagṛmbhavavartheti nigame" iti sūtreṇa chandasi vavartheti nipātanādbhāṣāyāṃ vṛñasthala iṭaḥ svīkartavyatayā vṛgrahaṇasya thalviṣayatvā'yogāt, vamādīnāṃ ca kittvana niyamasya susthatvāditi.
