purastācchabdaḥ prayuktaḥ, subantāditi ca prayuktaṃ. tadasamañjasamiti matvā haradattena
kathaṃcitaṃ samarthitaṃ—`lyablopa eṣā pañcamī. evaṃbhūtaṃ
prakṛtitvenāśrityetyartha'iti. prāgeveti. sautrastuśabdo'vadhāraṇe vartata iti
bhāvaḥ. tena ca bahujeva vikalpyate, na tu pūrvatvam. tuśabdā'bhāve tu prāktvaṃ
vikalpyeta. tathā ca pakṣe bahuc paraḥ syāt. bhāṣyakārasya mate tu nedaṃ tuśabdasya
phalam. tathāhi—`uda\ufffdiāto'nyatarasyā'mityādau pradhānatvātpratyaya eva
vikalpyate, na tu paratvaṃ, pratyaya eva hi paratvaviśiṣṭo vidhīyata ita#i , viśeṣaṇasya
guṇatvāt, `guṇānāṃ ca parārthatvādi'ti nyāyāt. tadvadihāpi vibhāṣāgrahaṇena bahujeba
saṃbhantsyate, na purastādityetat. tuśabdasya tu avadhāraṇārthasyā'nyadeva prayojanaṃ
`pustādeva sarvaṃ yathā syā'diti. tena liṅgasaṅkhye api prāk pratyayotpatteḥ
prakṛtyavasthāyāṃ ye dṛṣṭe te eva staḥ. bahucaḥ prayogaśca prāk prakṛtereva
bhavatīti. tena `bahuguḍo drākṣā', `laghurbahutṛṇaṃ naraḥ'ityādau prakṛtivalliṅgameva
bhavati, na tvibhidheyavalliṅgam. nanu `svārthikāḥ prakṛtito liṅgavacanāmi
labhante'ityeva siddhamiti kimanena tuśabdagrahaṇeneti cet. atrāhuḥ—etadeva jñāpayati
