yadi tarhi tena sahāsyaikavākyatā , tadā yuktaṃ "bahuṣu bahuvacanam" 1.4.21 ityatra -- "yatra ca saṃkhyā sambhavati tatrāyamupadeśaḥ, avyayebhyastu niḥsaṃkhyebhyaḥ sāmānyavihitāḥ svādayo vidyanta eva" iti, tadvirudhyate, ekavākyatāyāṃ hi viśiṣṭa evārthe karmādisambandhinyekatvādau svādīnāṃ vidhānāt sāmānyavihitatvaṃ nopapadyate.
yadapīdaṃ tatroktam- "ṅyāpprātipadikāt svādayo lasya tibādaya iti bahuvacanaṃ vihitaṃ tasyānena bahutvasaṃkhyāvācyatvena vidhīyate" iti, tadapi virudhyata eva; na hrekavākyatāyāṃ vihitasya bahuvacanasya paścādbahutvasaṃkhyāya vācyatvena vidhānaṃ yuktam. tena śāstrānteṇānena ca saṃhatya bahutvasaṃkhyāyāmeva bahuvacanavidhānāt pūrvakastāvannāsti virodhaḥ. ekavākyatāyāmapi hi yathā svādīnāṃ sāmānyena vidhānamupapadyate tathā "bahuṣu bahuvacanam" 1.4.21 ittraiva pratipāditam. yo'pi dvitīyo virodha udbhāvitaḥ so'pi na bhavatyeva; hrāpprātipadikāt svādayo lasya tibādaya iti bahuvacanaṃ vihitamiti "bahuṣu bahuvacanam" 1.4.21 ityanena saihakavākyatāmāpannenetyayaṃ tatrābhiprāyo veditavyaḥ. tasyānena sūtreṇa bahutvasaṃkhyā vācyatvena vidhīyata ityatrāpi svādisūtreṇa 4.1.2 "lasya" 3.4.77 ityādinā ca śāstreṇa sahaikavākyatāṃ pratipannenetyeṣo'bhiprāyo draṣṭavyaḥ. evañca saṃhatyaiva bahuvacanaṃ vihitam. saṃhatyaiva ca tasya bahutavasaṃkhyā vācyatvena vidhīyata iti kuto virodhaḥ; nanu ca "bahuvacanam" 1.4.21 ityekamidaṃ śāstram, tasya di svādisūtreṇai 4.1.2kavākyatā, tato "lasya" (3.4.77) ityādinā śāstrāntareṇa sā nopapadyate? atha tenaikavākyatā, svādisūtreṇa (4.1.2) sā nopapadyate? naiva doṣaḥ; dve hrete vacane tantroccārite, tatraikasya svādisūtreṇaikavākyatā, aparasya "lasya" 1.4.21 ityādinā śāstrāntareṇa.

[nanu] anyatarasya niranubandhakatvamevāstviti cet[na], jākārā'bhāve "au"ityasya āv syāt, tataśca pratyayasya vakārāntatā saṃbhāvyeta. evaṃ śasaḥ śakārā'bhāve auṭo ṅittvaṃ saṃbhāvyeta, tathāca "tejasī" ityādau ṭilopaḥ syāt. athavā "lihā"vityādau ṅittvasāmathryādabhasyāpi ṭerlopaḥ saṃbhāvyeta. auṭaṣṭakāraḥ "su"ḍiti pratyāhārārthaḥ. ṭāṭakārastu "ṭāṅasiṅasāṃ"--"dvitīyāṭausvenaḥ" iti viśeṣaṇārthaḥ. etena "ādirantyene"ti sūtre kāśikākāreṇa yaduktam-"antyeneti kim?, "su"ḍiti tṛtīyaikavacanāvayavena mā bhūt"-iti tatparāstam. auṭaṣṭakārasyānyārthatayā tenaiva saṃbhavāt, pratyāsatteśca. ateva śabdakaustubhe tatrānyadeva prayojanamuktam--"madhyamenetā sahita ādistaduttareṣāmapi grāhako mā bhūdityantyeneti grahaṇam. antyenetā sahito madhyamaḥ pūrveṣāmapi mā bhūdityādigrahaṇam"-iti. amumevārthaṃ manasi nidhāya--"ādyantābhyāmavayavābhyāmavayavī samudāya ākṣipyate"--iti niṣkṛṣṭamuktaṃ prāk. prakṛtamanusarāmaḥ--ṅeprabhṛtīnāṃ ṅakāro "gherṅiti" "ṅerām--" iti viśeṣaṇārthaḥ. supaḥ pakārastu pratyāhārārthaḥ.
