Description:

The affix 'ap' comes optionally after the verb 'kvaṇ' (to jingle), when 'ni' is in composition with it as well as when it is without any upasarga, or when 'flute' is meant. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

[The kŕt 1.93 affix 1.1 aP 57 is optionally 62 introduced after 1.2 the verbal stem 1.91] kváṇ- `jingle' (1.4.7) [co-occurring 64 or not 61 with the preverb ní-° 64 to form an action noun 18 denoting a kāraka other than the agent 19] when designating the musical instrument (vīṇā `lute').
