Description:
The affix ((khyun)), when the sense of the word to be formed is that of an instrumental agent, comes after the verb ((kṛ)) 'to make', when the following words are in composition with it as objects: ((ā hya)) 'rich', ((subhaga)) 'fortunate', ((sthūla)) 'big', ((palita)) 'grey', ((nagna)) 'naked', ((andha)) 'blind' and ((priya)) pleasant', provided that these words have the sense of the words formed by the affix ((cvi)), though not actually ending in the affix ((cvi)). "āḍha()ṃ tailena kurvanti" ityādi. na hrasau prāganāḍha()stailenāḍhyaḥ kriyate, kiṃ tarhi? āḍha()stailenābhyajyate. anekārthatvāddhātūnāṃ karotiratrābhyañjane vatrtate. tenābhūtaprādurbhāve nāstīti bhavati pratyudāharaṇam. atha vā-- bhavatu nāmābhūtaprādurbhāvaḥ, tathāpi yuktamevedaṃ pratyudāharaṇamiti darśayitumāha-- "prakṛteravivakṣāyām" ityādi. na hrabhūtaprādurbhāvaḥ ityevaṃ sarvo'bhūtaprādurbhāvaścvyartho bhavati, kintu viśiṣṭa eva; yasmāt tatra prakṛtigrahaṇaṃ darśayiṣyate. prakṛtiḥ kāryasya pūrvāvasthā. tena yatrāśritaṃ kāryaṃ pūrvārambhaśca kāryasay bhāvyamānatayā vivakṣyate tatra sa abhūtaprādurbhāvaḥ, sa eva cvyarthaḥ. etaduktaṃ bhavati-- yadā kāryasya pūrvāvasthā vivakṣyate tadā cvyartho bhavati, nābhūtaprādurbhāvavivakṣāyāmiti. iha tu pūrvāvasthāmaparāmṛśyānāśritapūrvārambhe kārye'bhūtatadbhāvamātraṃ vivakṣitam. tena satyapyabhūtatadbhāve cvyartho na bhavati. ato bhavatyetat pratyudāharaṇam-- "āḍhyīkurvanti" iti.
