nanu ca śaktiḥ kārakamiti darśanam, na ca karmaśaktiḥ kadāpi karttṛbhāvamāpadyate, tadayuktamuktam-- yasmin karmaṇi karttṛbhūte'pīti? śaktiśaktimatorbhedasyāvivakṣāyāṃ śaktyādhāraṃ dravyamevaitaduktamityadoṣaḥ. idaṃ tahrrayuktamuktam-- "tadvat kriyā lakṣyate yathā karmaṇi" iti. yasmādya eva karmāvasthāyāṃ vyāpāraḥ sa eva katrravasthāyāmapīti sādṛśyaṃ nopapadyate, tasya bhedādhiṣṭhāne sati sattvāt? naiṣa doṣaḥ; avasthābhedena kriyābedādyadyapyavasthāvad()dravyamabhinnam, tathāpyavasthābhedo'sti-- anyaiva hi katrravasthā,anyā ca karmāvasthā. avasthābhedena kriyābheda iti tadadhiṣṭhānaṃ sādṛśyaṃ bhavati.
ihātideśo nimitta-- vyapadeśa--śāstra-- kāryabhedādanekavidhaḥ. tatreha nimittātideśo na bhavati, na hi karmaṇo yannimittaṃ kartturopsitatamatvaṃ tat katrtaryatideṣṭuṃ śakyate; vastvantaradharmāṇāṃ vastvantareṇa viruddhadharmiṇā sambandhābhāvāt. vyapadeśātideśastu saṃjñāpakṣānna bhidyate. saṃjñāpakṣe tu vakṣyamāṇo doṣaḥ, vatigrahaṇañcānarthakaṃ syāt. śāstrātideśapakṣe tu śāstramatidiśyate, tasminnatidiṣṭe taireva śāstrairyagādayaḥ prāpyante; tataśca yadyayaṃ śāstrātideśaḥ syāt karmakartari paratvācchabādayo bādhakāḥ syuḥ, tatra pratividheyaṃ syāt. kāryātideśe tvanenaiva yagādayo vidhīyante. tena yena katrrāśrayāḥ karmakatrtari śabādayaḥ prāpnuvanti te paratvādyagādibhirbādhyanta iti na kiñcitpratividhātavyam. pradhānaṃ tu kāryātideśaḥ; tadarthatvanādatideśaśāstrāṇām. ataḥ kāryātideśatāmasya darśayannāha-- "karmāśrayāṇi" ityādi. nanu ca "tulyakriyaḥ" iti prathamānirdeśāt tadantasya karturatideśo vijñāyate, na ca sūtre karttṛgrahaṇamasti. yadyapi ca prakṛtaṃ tadapi saptamyantam, prathamānirdiṣṭena cehārthaḥ tatkathaṃ prathamāntakarttṛgrahaṇamantareṇa śakyate'tideśaḥ karttumityāha-- "katrtari" ityādi.
kiṃ punarasyātideśasya prayojanamityāha-- "yagātmanepada" ityādi. "bhidyate" iti yaka udāharaṇam. "abheri" iti ciṇaḥ. "kāriṣyate" iti ciṣvadbhāvasya. karmaṇi hi "syasicsīyuṭ" 6.4.62 ityādinā ciṇvadbhāvo vihitaḥ. ātmanepadasya tu sarvāṇyevaitānyadāharaṇāni.
"svāśrayamapi" ityādi. yadvināpyatideśo na bhavati tat svāśrayam, tadyathā syādityevamarthaṃ vatkaraṇam. asati hi tasmin saṃjñāsūtramidaṃ syāt, tataśca karmaṇā tulyakriyaḥ katrtā karmasaṃjñakaḥ syāt. evañca sati sakarmakatvāt "laḥ karmaṇi ca bhāve cākarmakebhyaḥ" 3.4.69 iti bhāve lakāro na syāt. vatkaraṇe tu satyatideśo bhavati. tena cāprāptameva karttuḥ karma kāryaṃ bhavati, na svāśrayaṃ karttṛtvam. akarmakasvabhāvatvamapanīyate, tatra tasyā vyāpārāt. etenākarmakāṇāṃ bhāve laḥ siddho bhavati-- bhidyate kusūneti. atha bhidyate kusūlaḥ svayamevetyatra kusūlaśabdāddvitīyā kasmānna bhavati, etadapi karma kāryaṃ bhavatyata āha-- "liṅyāśiṣyaṅiti" ityādi. dvau lakārau yasmin sa dvilakāro nirdeśaḥ. yadi dvilakārako nirdeśastadā kimityāha-- "tatra" ityādi. kāryaṃ pratītyadhyāhāryam. dvilakāranirdeśe sati "liṅyāśiṣyaṅa" 3.1.86 ityato lānuvṛttelantisyaiva kāryaṃ prati katrtā karmavadbhavati, na tu prātipadikasya. itikaraṇo hetau. yata evaṃ tasmāt kusūlāddvitīyā na bhavati.
"karaṇādhikaraṇābhyām" iti. karmaṇetyasatyasmin karaṇādhikaraṇasthayāpi kriyayā tulyakriyaḥ katrtā karmavat syāt, a()smastu sati na bhavati. "sādhvasiśchinatti" iti. kaṇasya karttṛtvavivakṣāyāṃ karaṇasthayāpi kriyayā chedyadravyāntaḥpraveśalakṣaṇayā tulyakriyo'trāsiḥ katrtā. "sādhu sthālī pacati" iti. atrādhikaraṇasya karttṛtvavivakṣāyāmadhikaraṇasthayā kriyayā sambhavati dhāraṇātmikayā tulyakriyaḥ katrtā. atheha kasmānna bhavati-- pacatyodanaṃ devadattaḥ, rādhyatyodanaḥ svayameveti; bhavati hratrāpi karmasthayā kriyayā tulyakriyaḥ katrtā, tathā hi yādṛśyodene karmabhūte kriyā vikledanalakṣaṇā lakṣyate tādṛśyeva karttṛbhūte'pi, pacatirādhyatyorekārthatvādityāha--- "dhātvadhikārāt" ityādi. samānaśabdo'yamekaparyāyaḥ, yathā-- devadattayajñadattayoḥ samānā māteti. ekā māteti gamyate. "karmasthabhāvakānām" ityādinā nyāyaprāptamevārthaṃ darśayati.tathā hi-- karmasthayā kriyayā tulyakriyasya karttuḥ karmavadbhāvo bhavati. na ca karttṛsthabhāvakānāṃ karttṛsthakriyāṇāṃ katrtā tathāvidho'sti. yadyapi kriyāpyupādīyate, "lakṣaṇahetvoḥ kriyāyāḥ" 3.2.126 ityatra ca bhāvo'pi parigṛhrate; tathāpīha dvayorupādānasāmathryādarthabhedo draṣṭavyaḥ.

samarthitamityata āha– kartṛsthatvena yagabhāvāditi. anuvyavasāyaḥ = niścayaḥ, tatra

`anuvyavasīyamāna' iti syādityarthaḥ. nanu yagabhāve kathaṃ yakāraśravaṇamityata āha– śyanīti.
`ṣo antakarmaṇi' iti dhātoranuvyavapūrvādupasargavaśena niścayavṛtterāne kṛte śyani
`otaḥ śyanī' tyokāralope `anuvyavasyamāna' iti rūpasiddherityarthaḥ. nanu
karmavattvā'bhāve `bhāvakarmaṇo' rityātmanepadā'bhāvātkathamiha laṭaḥ śānac,
tasyātmanepadatvādityata āha– tācchīlyādāviti. `tācchīlyavayovacanaśaktiṣu
cāna'śityanena cānaśityarthaḥ. tasya ca lādeśatvā'bhāvena ātmanepadatvā'bhāvāt
karamavattvā'bhāve'pi karmakartari pravṛttirnirbādhā. tadāha– na tvātmanepadamiti.
nanu `anyonyaṃ spṛśataḥ svayameva yajñadatta devadattā'vityatrāpi karmatvādyagādi
syāt. tatra hi spṛśiḥ saṃyogānukūlavyāpārārthakaḥ. ubhāvapi kartārau, karmabhūtau ca.
sparśanakriyāyā ekatve'pi āśrayabhedāttadbhedamāśritya yajñadattaniṣṭhāṃ
sparśanakriyāṃ prati devadattasya karmatvam. evaṃ devadattaniṣṭhāṃ sparśanakriyāṃ
prati yajñadattasya karmatvam.evaṃ kartṛtvapyubhayojrñeyam. evaṃca ubhayoḥ
kartṛtvakarmatvasattvādekasmin kartari karmaṇi vā spṛśikriyā saivetarasmin
kartari karmaṇi vā vartate iti karmavattvaṃ syāt, āśrayanibandhanaṃ bhedamāśritya
tulyakriyatvopapatteḥ.
spṛṣṭā'spṛṣṭayoranyonyasaṃyogakṛtaharṣāditadabhāvarsanācaccetyata āha– sakarmakāṇāṃ
pratiṣedha iti. ekakarmakāṇāṃ chidibhidiprabhṛtīnāṃ karmaṇaḥ kartṛtvavivakṣayā akarmakāṇāṃ
kartuḥ karmavattvamuktam. ye tu dvikarmakāḥ karmaṇaḥ kartṛtvavivakṣāyāmapi sakarmakā
dhātavasteṣāṃ dhātūnāṃ karmakartuḥ karmavattvapratiṣedho vaktavya ityarthaḥ. anyonyaṃ
spṛśata iti. karmavattve tu yaki taṅi ca `spṛśyete' iti syāditi bhāvaḥ.
`sakarmakāṇāṃ pratiṣedhaḥ ityasyodāharaṇāntaramāha– ajā grāmaṃ nayatīti. ajā grāmaṃ

karmavadityarthalābhāt. satyam. karmaṇā tulyakriyaḥ kartā karmetyucyamane

tattannirūpitasaṃyogasya bhinnatvāt. anyathā phalavyāpārayorekāśrayatve sakarmakatvameva
na labhyet. kiṃca ruhigamyoḥ kartṛsthakriyatvādārohate hastī, gacchati grāma ityatra
karmavadbhāvo neti bhāṣyakaiyaṭādisaṃmatam. tathāca saṃyogarūpaphalasya sarvatra tulayatayā
ruhigamibhyāṃ spṛśervaiṣamyaṃ durupapādamiti
nā'trakarmavattvaprasaktirityudāhaṇāntaramāha– ajā grāmaṃ nayatīti. iha
pratiṣedhā'bhāve yak syāt, kriyāphalasyā'kartagāmitve'pyātmanepadaṃ syāditi
bhāvaḥ. nanvihāpi karmaṇi kriyākṛto viśeṣo nopalabhyata iti karmasthakriyatvaṃ
durupapādamiti cet. atrāhuḥ– kriyākṛtaviśeṣopalambhā'nupalambhavaduddeśyatā'pi
niyāmikā. yatra kramasthāṃ'śasyoddeśayatā sā karmasthakriyā, yatra tu
vyāpārāṃ'śasyasā kartṛstheti. tathā hi–darśanārohaṇābhyāṃ viṣaye nyagbhūteca
viśeṣānupalambhātkartṛsthatā. uddeśānurodhācca ahaṃ paśyeyamityuddeśo, na tvayaṃ
viṣayo bhavatviti. evamahamuparigaccheyamityuddeśo na tu hastano nyagbhāvo bhavatviti.
ūdhrvadeśasaṃyogānukūlavyāpāraviśeṣa uparigamanaṃ, tadeva ruherartho na tu nyagbhāvamātram.
vṛkṣasyaśākhāṃ hastābhyāmavanamayatyapi bhūmiṣṭhe pura#uṣa ārohatītyaprayogāt. ataeva hi
`yaddhituparaṃ chandasī'tyatra bhāṣyaṃ `ruhirgatyartha' iti. ata eva cārohanti hastinaṃ
hastipakāstānārohayati mahāmāt ityādiprogeṣvaṇau karturṇau kmatvaṃ saṅgacchate.
pacibhidyostu viklittirdvidhābhavanarūpo viśeṣaḥ karmaṇi dṛṣṭastaduddeśenaiva
kārakavyāpāra iti karmasthakriyatvātpacyate odanaḥ, bhidyate kāṣṭhamityatra
karmavadbhāvo bhavatyeva. ajā grāmaṃ nayatītyatrāpi karmasthāṃ'śasya
saṃyogasyoddeśyatā, na tu vyāpārāṃśasyeti karmavadbhāve prāpte
