Description:

When joke is implied with reference to an action, the verb denoting it is used in the 2nd person; provided that the word manya 'to think' is the attendant word (upapada) of such verb, and of the verb manya itself, the affix must be of the 1st person and singular number. Source: Aṣṭādhyāyī 2.0

When irony (prahāsé) is indicated and the verbal theme mán-ya- `think' (IV 97) co-occurs as an upapadá `complementary word' [madhyamá triplets are introduced after (the principal) verbal stem 105] but the uttamá (first person) triplet singular (uttamá ekavát) is introduced after the verbal stem mán-ya.
