samāsadvayalābhārthaṃ vidhigrahaṇāt. yadyapyatra pañcamīsamāsapakṣo mūle noktaḥ, tathāpi
`pūrvasmādapi vidhau sthānivadbhāva' iti pakṣe tu `aḍvyavāye' ityevātra ṇatvamiti
`padda'nnādipraghaṭṭake svīkṛtaḥ saḥ. alvidhyarthamidamiti. tena `vavraśce'tyatra
vasya samprasāraṇaṃ na, uradattvasya sthānivattvena samprasāraṇatayā `na samprasāraṇe'
iti niṣedhāt. na coradattvaṃ paranimittaṃ neti vācyam, aṅgākṣipte pratyaye pare
tadvidhānāt. pūrvasmādvidhiḥ pūrvavidhiriti pañcamīsamāsapakṣasya tu prayojanam-
tanvanti, tanvate. iha yaṇādeśasya sthānivadbhāvānneṭ. atra hi
`tanityaṅga'nemittam, tacca sthānibhūtādukārātpūrvamiti. nanvidaṃ na prayojanam,
bahiraṅgasya yaṇo'siddhatvādiḍāgamasyātrā'prasakteḥ. na ca nājānantarye' iti niṣedhaḥ.
`yatrāntaraṅge bahiraṅge vā'corānantarya'miti haradattādimate niṣedhapravattāvapi
`uttarakārye yatrāca ānantaryamāśritaṃ tatra bahiṣṭvapraklṛptirne'ti kaiyaṭamate
tadabhāvāt. na caivamapīpacanniti prayojanaṃ bhavatyeva, iha hi anterakārasya caṅakārasya ca `ato
guṇe' iti pararūpe tasya ca parādivadbhāvājjhigrahaṇena grahaṇe sati `sijabhyaste'ti jus
prāpnoti, ṇilopasya ekādeśasya vā sthānivadbhāvānna bhavatīti vācyam, vetterhi
laḍayevānantaro jhiḥ sambhavatīti tatsāhacaryādabhyastādapi laṅa eva jherjusvidhānāt. na ca
sicā sāhacaryālluṅa eva grahaṇamastviti śaṅkyam , `vipratiṣedhe para'miti
parasāhacaryasya valīyastvāt. na caivamapi `adabhyastā'dityadādeśasya nivāraṇāya
pañcamīsamāsapakṣa āvaśyaka iti vācyam, caṅakārasya anterakāreṇa ca `ato guṇe' iti pararūpe
kṛte jhasyābhāvadadādeśāprasakteḥ. atra tvekādeśasya parādivadbhāvājjhagrahaṇena grahaṇaṃ
na bhavati; alvidhau antādivadbhāvā'pravṛtteḥ. anyathā `ayaje indra'mityādau
savarṇadīrgho durvāra eva syāt. astu vā parādivadbhāvastathāpi jhakārasya
atsyādityadādeśe kartavye'ntādeśo na sthānivat, alvidhitvāt.
tasmātpañcamīsamāsapakṣo nirarthaka eveti cedatrāhuḥ-pañcamīsamāsaprayojanatayā
arītacannityudāharato bhagavatastu neha sāhacaryaṃ niyāmakatayā saṃmatam. `dvitriścatur-
' iti sūtre kṛtvorthagrahaṇājjñāpakātsāhacaryaṃ na sarvatrāśrīyate. evaṃ ca
bhavateryaṅluki abyastāśrayasya jusaḥ pravṛttyā `abobhūvu'riti rūpaṃ sidhyati, `āta'
iti niyamasya sicaḥ paratvamāśritya yo jusprāptastanmātraparatayā
mādhavādibhivryākhyātatvāt. ata eva `abhyastāśrayo jus, nityatvādvuk,
abobhūvuḥ', iti mūle yaṅluṅanteṣūktam. tathā cā'pīpacannityetatsiddhaye pañcamīsamāsa
pakṣa āśrayaṇīya iti. anyetvāhuḥ-pañcamīsamāsapakṣaprayojanatayā bhāṣye `bebhiditā'

vihitaviśeṣaṇāśrayaṇādeva iṇniṣedhāpravṛttau bhideryaṅantātṛci`bebhidite'ti rūpaṃ
susādham, tathāpi `māthitika' ityādisidhdyarthaṃ sa pakṣo'bhyupagantavyaḥ. na ca mathitaṃ
paṇyamasya māthitika ityatrāpi `tadasya paṇya'miti ṭhaki ikādeśe ca kṛte `yasyeti ce'ti
lopāt `isusuktāntāt' iti ikaḥ sthāne prasajyamāno yaḥ kādeśaḥ so'pyallopasya
sthānivadbhāvaṃ vinaiva supariharaḥ,, `ṭhasyekaḥ' ityatra `sthānyādeśayorakāra
uccāraṇārthaḥ' ityabhyupagame alvidhitvena sthānivadbhāvā'pravṛttyā ṭhasthānika
ikādeśaṣṭho na bhavatīti kādeśā'prasaktermāthitika iti rūpasiddhau kimanena

suparihāraḥ, nāpyetādṛśakalpanāyāṃ mānā'bhāvaḥ śaṅkayaḥ, `māthitika' iti
bhāṣyodāharaṇasyaiva mānatvāditi. syādetat,-pūrvatvasya sāvadhitvena
saṃnihatasyaivāvadhitvamucitaṃ, saṃnihitaṃ ceha trayaṃ,–sthānī ādeśo nimittaṃ ca, tatra
tāvatsthānī nā'vadhiḥ. tasyādeśenāpahārāt. nāpyādeśanimitte, `vaiyākaraṇa'
ityatraikārasyāyādeśāpatterityāśaṅkāyāha-acaḥ pūrvatvena dṛṣṭasyeti.
