kakkaṭa कक्कट

Definition: Denotes the ‘ crab ’ in the Yajurveda Samhitās, being a Prākritized form of Karkata, which is common in the later literature. Roth, however, takes the word to mean a bird, and compares Kakara. See also Kakutha.
