kṛdanta कृदन्त
Definition: the word ending with a kṛt affix; the term कृत् is found used in the sūtras of Pāṇini for कृदन्त; cf. कृत्तद्धितसमासाश्च P. I.2.46. The term कृदन्त for root-nouns, or nouns derived from roots, is found in the Atharvaprātiśākhya (I.1.10, II.3.8, II1.2.4), the Mahābhāṣya and all the later works on grammar. See the word कृत्.
