bhos भोस्

Definition: (fr. bhavas- vocative case of bhavat- q.v;before vowels and soft consonants bho-;before hard consonants bhos-and bhoḥ-;the latter form also in pause see ;but there is occasional confusion of these forms, especially in later literature;often also bhobhoḥ-.), an interjection or vocative case particle commonly used in addressing another person or several persons = O! Ho! Hallo l, in soliloquies = alas! etc. etc. (according to a particle of sorrow and of interrogation).
