bhaṭṭa भट्ट

Definition: m. (fr. bhartṛ-) lord, my lord (also plural and bhaṭṭapāda -pāda- m. plural;according to ,a title of respect used by humble persons addressing a prince;but also affixed or prefixed to the names of learned Brahmans, exempli gratia, 'for example' kedāra--, govinda-bh-etc., or bhaṭṭa-kedāra-etc., below, the proper name being sometimes omitted exempli gratia, 'for example' bhaṭṭa-= kumārila-bh-;also any learned man = doctor or philosopher) etc.
