Seems to denote a yoke borne on the shoulders to enable one to carry a weight. But it is found in the Brāhmaṇas used only metaphorically in such phrases as vi-vivadha, ‘with the weight unequally distributed,’ and sa- vīvadhata, ‘equality of burden.’
