कायः यम् [चीयते$स्मिन् अस्थ्यादिकमिति काय; चि-घञ् आदेः ककारः P.III.3.41. कायक (-यिका f.), कायिक (-की f.) a. [काय-ठक्] Relating to the body, bodily, corporeal; कायिकतपः Ms.12.8. -का Interest (whatever is given for the use of money); Ms.8.153. -Comp. -वृद्धिः f. 1 interest consisting in the use of any animal or capital stock pawned. -2 interest of which the payment does not affect the principal, or the use of the body of an animal pledged by the person to whom it is pledged.
अकाय a.. [नास्ति कायो यस्य] Without body, incorporeal. -यः 1 An epithet of Rāhu, who is represented as having no body, but only a head. -2 Epithet of the Supreme Spirit (without body, parts &c.)
अनाशकायनम् [न नश्यति अनाशकः आत्मा तस्यायनं प्राप्त्यु- पायः] The state of ब्रह्मचर्य, unmarried or student's life, devoted to contemplation and knowledge of the soul; अथ यदनाशकायनमित्या चक्षते ब्रह्मचर्यमेव तत् । एष ह्यात्मा न नश्यति यं ब्रह्मचर्येणानुविन्दते Ch. Up.8.5.3; a course of fasting as a penance (?).
निकायः [नि-चि-घञ् कुत्वम्] 1 A heap, an assemblage, a class, multitude, flock, group in general; Mv.1. निकाय इति सङ्घात् औत्तराधर्येणावस्थित उच्यते । ŚB. on MS. 8.1.19; तप्तहेमनिकायाभं शितिकण्ठं त्रिलोचनम् (वीक्ष्य) Bhāg. 4.24.25. -2 A congregation, school, an association of persons who perform like duties. -3 A house, habitation dwelling-place; Ms.1.36; काशीनिकायः &c. -4 The body. -5 Aim, butt, mark. -6 The Supreme Being. -7 Ved.
