kakṣa Is the name of two men mentioned as teachers in a Vamśa (list of teachers) of the Jaiminīya Upanisad Brāhmana. One is Kaksa Vārakya, pupil of Prosthapada Vārakya, and the other Kaksa Vārāki or Vārakya,\ pupil of Daksa Kātyā- yani Atreya. See also Urukaksa.
urukakṣa Occurs in only one passage of the Rigveda, where the sense of the word is much disputed. The reading of the text is imih kakso na gāñgyah, which may refer to a man, Urukaksa, ‘dwelling on the Ganges, or to a man, son of Gañgā, or to a wood so called, or may simply denote the ‘ broad thicket on the Ganges.
śruta kakṣa Is mentioned once in the Rigveda as the Rṣi of a hymn, the authorship of which the Anukramaṇī (Index) ascribes to him. A Sāman or chant of his is mentioned in the Pañcavimśa Brāhmaṇa.
