kāvya (‘ descendant of Kavi ’) is the constant1 patronymic of Uśanas. In the Pañcavimśa Brāhmana it is also applied to Idhat[1] and Uksnorandhra.
iṭant kāvya Is the name of a sage, contemporary with Keśin Dārbhya, in the Kausitaki Brāhmana. He is also mentioned as Idhant in the Pañcavimśa Brāhmana.

vimalamatian old grammarian who is believed to have written a gloss named भागवृत्ति on Pāṇini's Sūtras to which the grammarians Purusottamadeva, Sīradeva's Paribhāṣāvṛttiand others of the twelfth century refer. Some scholars say that भागवृत्ति was written by भर्तृहरि; but it is not feasible, as there is a reference to Māghakāvya in भागवृति. In books on grammar,. especially of the Eastern School in the 11th and the 12th century, there are several quotations from the Bhāgavṛtti. See भागवृत्ति.

nāṭakaṃ dṛśyakāvyam asti।

kāvyaprakāraḥ yasmin prathamaṃ kathitam anyathā kṛtvā anyad eva kathyate।

etad amīra-khusaro-dvārā racitaṃ mukarīkāvyam asti।

mātrikaḥ chandaḥ yasmin catvāraḥ caraṇāḥ santi kintu dve paṅktī staḥ।

tulasīdāsasya dohākāvyam adhunā api lokapriyam asti।

sāhityaśāstrānusāraṃ sargabandhaṃ kāvyaṃ yatra prāyaḥ sarveṣāṃ rasāṇām āviṣkāraḥ asti tathāpi śṛṅgārarasasya vīrarasasya vā prādhānyaṃ kalpitaṃ tat ca ṛtūṇām utsavānāṃ ca varṇanena yuktaṃ bhavitum arhati।

rāmāyaṇaṃ mahākāvyam asti।

pañca iti saṅkhyātaḥ yadā dvau iti saṅkhyā nyūnīkṛtā tadā trayaḥ iti saṃṅkhyā prāptā।

pañca, pāṇḍavaḥ, śivāsyam, indriyam, svargaḥ, vratāgniḥ, mahāpāpam, mahābhūtam, mahākāvyam, mahāmakhaḥ, purāṇalakṣaṇam, aṅgam, prāṇāḥ, vargaḥ, indriyārthaḥ, bāṇaḥ   

ekādhikaṃ catvāri।

pañcādhikaṃ pañca āhatya daśa bhavanti।

hāsyarase racitā sā kavitā yā bhaṇḍāḥ iva kasyāpi upahāsārthaṃ racitā।

asmābhiḥ vivāhasamaye anukaraṇakāvyam api gīyate।

hāsyarase racitā sā kavitā yā kasyāpi racanāyāḥ anukaraṇaṃ karoti parantu upahāsamayī vartate।

saḥ calacitrasya gītānām anukaraṇakāvyaṃ racayati।
